Overview

Magic exists everywhere in the universe. It is a force that has existed since the beginning of time, influencing the natural order and the development of the universe. Axion was the first organization to systematically study and understand magic.

Magical particles (p) flow through the universe, in something known as the Magical Field (Mf). Those particles attach to living beings, objects, and even the environment, enabling the manipulation and utilization of magic.

Magical Field - Mf

An invisible field that permeates the entire universe, the Magical Field (Mf) serves as the medium through which magical particles (p) travel and interact with the world. It is the foundation of all magical phenomena, and its properties determine how magic can be harnessed and manipulated. While this field can vary in density (ρM), it is generally stable and omnipresent, ensuring that magic is always accessible throughout the universe. Places without any magic particles (p) are extremely rare and are considered voids where magical influence is negligible or entirely absent. It is mostly caused by devices/structures that manipulate or absorb magical paricles (p), creating localized areas with reduced magical presence.

Example

Particle density on an open field would be such as

ρM≈1.2×108 p/m3\rho_M \approx 1.2 \times 10^8 \,\mathrm{p}/\mathrm{m}^3

This would be the amount of particles flowing around you.

Every particle carries some ammount of Magical Energy (ME).

Energy per particle (εM) :

εM≈1×10−7 Ax\varepsilon_M \approx 1 \times 10^{-7} \,\mathrm{Ax}

Magical Potential - Mp

Magical Potential (Mp) represents the potential of a person or an object to attract and accumulate magical particles (p) from the surrounding Magical Field (Mf). The higher the magical potential, the faster the accumulation of magical particles, and consequently, the greater the capacity to perform magical actions.

Example

A person with some magical knowledge can have a magical potential (Mp) such as:

Mp≈2×107 p/sM_p \approx 2 \times 10^7 \,\mathrm{p}/\mathrm{s}

Magic Capacity - Mc

Magic Capacity (Mc) represents the maximum amount of magical particles that a person or an object can store at any given time. The higher the magic capacity, the more magical energy can be created for stronger spells and magical actions.

Example

A person with moderate magical potential and some experience in magic might have a magic capacity (Mc) such as:

Mc≈3×108 AxM_c \approx 3 \times 10^8 \,\mathrm{Ax}

Conversion efficiency - C

Conversion efficiency (C) represents the effectiveness with which a person or an object can convert accumulated magical particles (p) into usable magical energy. A higher conversion efficiency indicates that a greater proportion of the accumulated magical particles can be utilized for magical actions, while a lower efficiency results in more wasted potential. A deeper understanding of magic lead to improved conversion efficiency. You can also improve it by using magical tools such as wands or staffs that enhance the conversion process.

Example

A newbie magician without a well-crafted wand might have a conversion efficiency (C) such as:

C≈0.30C \approx 0.30

This means that 30% of the accumulated magical particles are successfully converted into usable magical energy.

Magical Energy - ME

The final and most crucial aspect of the magical system is the Magical Energy (ME). Magical Energy (ME) represents the usable energy derived from accumulated magical particles (p) after considering the conversion efficiency (C). It is the actual energy available for performing magical actions. The higher the magical energy, the more powerful and effective the spells and magical actions can be. It is measured in Ax (axions) (The company Axion was founded because of this discovery by Dr. Mages).

Example

A person with a magic capacity (Mc) of 3×108 Ax3 \times 10^8 \,\mathrm{Ax} and a conversion efficiency (C) of 0.30 would have a magical energy (ME) such as:

ME=Mc×C×εMME=3×108×0.30×1×10−7ME=9 Ax‾‾\begin{aligned} \mathrm{ME} &= M_c \times C \times \varepsilon_M \\[0.6em] \mathrm{ME} &= 3 \times 10^8 \times 0.30 \times 1 \times 10^{-7} \\[0.6em] \mathrm{ME} &= \underline{\underline{9\,\mathrm{Ax}}} \end{aligned}

9 Ax would be enough to perform basic magical actions such as accelerating plant growth.
